Optative Sentence কাকে বলে?
যে Sentence দ্বারা মনের ইচ্ছা, প্রার্থনা, আশীর্বাদ, অভিশাপ, কামনা বা আশা প্রকাশ করা হয় তাকে Optative Sentence বলে।
সহজভাবে বললে—
👉 Wish, prayer, blessing, curse, hope ইত্যাদি বোঝালে সেটি Optative Sentence।
Optative Sentence এর উদাহরণ
May you live long.
May Allah bless you.
May you succeed in life.
May he recover soon.
Long live our motherland.
Assertive Sentence → Optative Sentence
Assertive sentence কে Optative sentence এ পরিবর্তন করার সময় সাধারণত “May” ব্যবহার করা হয়।
মূল Rule
👉 May + Subject + auxiliary verb উঠিয়ে + বাকি অংশ
Structure
Positive:
Subject + will/shall/can + verb
➡ May + Subject + verb
Example:
You will shine in life.
➡ May you shine in life.
আরেকটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ Rule
যদি sentence এ “We wish that…”, “We hope that…”, “I pray that…” ইত্যাদি থাকে, তাহলে ওই অংশ বাদ দিয়ে মূল clause কে Optative করা হয়।
Example:
We wish that you will come out successful.
➡ May you come out successful.
মনে রাখার বিষয়
✅ Optative sentence সাধারণত “May” দিয়ে শুরু হয়।
✅ Auxiliary verb (will, shall, can ইত্যাদি) বাদ যায়।
✅ Wish/hope/pray/propose অংশ বাদ দেওয়া হয়।
✅ শেষে full stop অথবা exclamation mark হতে পারে।
